Old-school fireplaces!

We are all used to the idea of a fireplace with a mantle that is integrated into the wall. However, a couple of decades ago, these fireplaces came in different forms and not just as a centerpiece to the room like we are used to seeing. They were also quite versatile, as some were also stovetops, while others were just made out of metal and put into a tiny nook in the wall.

As a result, a lot of new homeowners, when central heating became more available, decided not to bother taking out the old fireplaces from the house, as it could be really expensive, and rather just board up the nook in which these fireplaces were to even out the wall. Sometimes it happened that newer owners decided to do it because it was easier.

Since the fireplace was hidden, the next owners did not know about it, and if they did not renovate it, it could still be hidden somewhere in a wall. If you are doing a renovation of any kind and you run into such an antique fireplace, make sure you treat it kindly! Not only are they a piece of history, but some of them are worth a fortune! And who knows? Maybe you can find a way to integrate it into your home’s design!

If you are specifically interested in flipping a historical home, then you should make sure that you check out this comprehensive guide on how do it successfully!
