Not Enough Storage?

One of the most common complaints about kitchen design is a lack of usable storage. From corner units and cabinets to the ceiling to hidden drawers and storage designed for special appliances, there are many ways you can customize storage for your unique needs.

If you have too many tiny appliances on your countertops, it can make your kitchen look and feel cluttered.

How To Solve This: If the space allows it, buy a pantry cupboard for perishables and an appliance cupboard for smaller, frequently-used appliances like the microwave, coffee machine, and toaster.

Corner cabinets also tend to be problematic because they create wasted space. But some clever interior corner storage systems can be used better. You can also include a combination of cupboards and drawers in your kitchen design to maximize storage options.

What about UNDER the sink for trash and recycling? I designed kitchens for years, and the space under the sink is not desirable for food or appliance storage, so use it for trash and garbage. As usual, my sink has two doors beneath it. I mounted a bin to the inside of one door to hold a trash bag, and a pull-out bin behind the other door for recycling.
