Can I paint a fiberglass or steel door the same way I paint a wood door?

Should I use oil-based or water-based exterior paint?
While oil-based paints historically offered harder, more durable finishes, modern technology has shifted the industry standard. High-quality acrylic latex (water-based) paints are now the superior choice for exteriors. They remain flexible over time, expanding and contracting with the door as the weather changes. What is the best paint finish for a front door?

How long does it take for the door to dry before I can close it?

Will painting my door a dark color cause it to warp?
