Do you want to revitalize your garden with a rapid weekend project? Well, we prepped for you 21 extremely easy gardening ideas, so you can create the perfect garden oasis you’ve always dreamed of!

Don’t worry, you won’t have to take any gardening classes if you want to make your dreams come true and get the most beautiful garden in the neighborhood! All you will need is to have a little patience, a bit of time, and of course, lots of love for the plants! Oh, and don’t forget about creativity! Yes, you’ll need plenty of that! Check out these amazing ideas for your home garden:

Get creative with the weeding

When you are weeding the garden, make sure to keep a couple of weed basics in mind: you have to weed on a regular basis, don’t forget to use that garden hoe, don’t yank those roots, and weed only when the soil is wet. If you want to keep weeds at bay, you could also use a DIY weed killer, that’s completely made out of white vinegar, salt, and dish soap.

You could also keep weeds to a minimum, simply by using a plastic bag, so you can cut off their light source, filling your garden with newspaper and mulch, or simply using some boiling water.

Plant more perennials

If you’ve gotten tired of planting lots of flowers and plants every single year, consider going for perennials! Perennials usually vary in size, height, and color, and they’re also amazing for low-maintenance gardens, as they come back every year.

If you want to diversify your garden, try planting perennials that can bloom in different periods of the year, such as peonies (April-June), hydrangeas (May-July), and yarrow (June-September). You could also plant perennials at the proper time to work your soil: in the spring or even fall. As long as you’ll make sure to do some research on how to care for them, everything’s gonna be fine!

Fill the gaps with annuals

Annuals will offer you the option to change the flowers and plants in your garden every other year! Even if these plants will die after the season, they might still make the garden look beautiful and lush. There is a wide range of options when it comes to annual plants, that all gardeners should look out for.

Mix chrysanthemums, poppies, marigolds, and even petunia between your perennials, so you can fill the gaps and add more color to your garden. When you plant annuals, it is very important to do so in late spring, summer, and even fall. Otherwise, if you’ll plant too early or too late in the season, your plants might not grow.

Opt for a proper wildflower bomb

In case you need an easy way to grow your flowers in the garden, try a wildflower bomb! It’s gonna be a fun way to disperse those seeds and give your garden the free form it deserves! When you plant your wildflower garden, just pick an area that will receive adequate sunlight, and don’t bury your seeds.

Also, don’t overwater it! The positive aspect of growing wildflowers is that you will attract essential pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, and they are extremely easy to maintain with just a little bit of water.

Plant a tree or two!

If your garden looks a bit empty, you should consider planting a tree. A tree is a marvelous way to prove a bit of privacy and shade. Watch out for the height and size of the tree, because in a garden, the best thing you can do is to plant small trees such as Japanese maples, crab apples, magnolias, and peach trees.

Plus, planting a tree isn’t as bad as it sounds! Whether you want to replace a tree or plant a new one, it should take only a couple of hours. Of course, as long as you make sure to dig a wide, but shallow hole, and also make sure that the tree is standing straight before filling in the hole.

Build a raised garden bed

Simply add a raised garden bed if you want to make your hob much easier when you harvest the plants. Not only will they look amazing, but they will come with lots of benefits for your produce and flowers, such as better drainage and fewer weeds.

In fact, building such a garden bed can prove to be as simple as using some 2 x 4 boards, screws, and, of course, a power drill. In case you don’t want to bust out the power tools, you should make a customizable garden bed simply out of cinderblocks!

Start a proper vegetable & herb oasis

It’s true, that gardens are an amazing way to add beauty to your space, and you can also use that space to grow produce and herbs. You could grow veggies, simply by using sowing seeds or by deciding to plant a pre-grown vegetable plant.

If you don’t know much about vegetables, start with some easy veggies, such as tomatoes, lettuce, green beans, peppers, and even carrots. You could also save the seeds from your veggies and use them to replant the next year. And the same goes for herbs, too! You can either plant the seeds or the pre-grown ones. If you’re not sure with which one of them to start, try sage, parsley, oregano, and basil.

Transplant existing plants

If you are buying plants from a certain store or have a couple of shrubs or perennials that aren’t really thriving, you can easily move them to another area. You could also have to transplant the already existing shrubs and perennials, especially if they require more sunlight, or if they get too much sunlight, or need additional space to grow.

And if you want to do this gardening task the proper way, you will have to use a wheelbarrow, spade, shovel, and even some burlap to move that plant.

When you transplant your plants, make sure you do it either in spring or fall, as the summer heat won’t help your little ones to properly flourish.

Take care of your plants with a proper fence

Are you looking to keep the critters from getting into your business? Well, you can simply add a fence that will protect your flowers and produce! You can simply build a fence with pressure-treated lumber such as 2×4 rails, or 4×4 posts, and mesh wiring.

It’s a great way to protect your vegetables and herbs from unwanted animals, and it will also act as a barrier against the wind!

Build a DIY potato box

If you only have a small area to grow your plants and need more room to grow whatever you like, consider adding a potato box! Simply use a variety of lumber, wood screws, and deck screws, and you’ll easily build your own potato box.

You can spend the afternoon arranging your box with existing oil, potting soil, compost, and also chopped mulch. Make sure you plant the potatoes 3-4 inches from the top, right before starting to cover them with soil. Why? Because in approximately four months, your potatoes will be good to harvest!

Start composting

One of the best ways to nurture your flowers and vegetables is to start composting. It’s true that this particular activity isn’t exactly the most exciting part when it comes to gardening. However, it’s mandatory to keep your plants as thriving and healthy as possible.

You can also save money and help your environment by simply creating a DIY compost out of some fruits and veggies scraps, grass clippings, dry leaves, and even finely chopped wood!

Use the window box

Add some curb appeal and visual interest to your own space with some colorful window boxes! If your backyard isn’t that big and you don’t have enough space, this could be a great gardening idea, as these boxes can be placed on any window sill or balcony.

Make sure you fill your window box with a couple of colorful flowers or herbs, such as petunias, begonias, thyme, and, of course, mint. Not to mention that planting at the height of your window will definitely protect your plants from animals, and you can take care of them easily.

Create a potting corner

Wouldn’t you like to keep all your gardening supplies in one place, by simply creating a potting corner? In such a corner, you would build your own potting bench where you can rest after a proper gardening session.

You can also use this cute garden workstation as a way to maximize your storage options.
