Mistake #3: Wrong Spacing
It’s a standard gardening mistake to ignore the spacing guidelines. Some rookies end up with an overgrown carrot that’s stressed out, pest-infested, and sprouts too early. Others can have perfect radishes but with a gap of two feet between each row.
You’ve ruined your harvest in the first case by trying to pack in too much. As for the second, you’ve done all the regular work, only to grow a half-bare garden. So try this instead: Use your garden fully, but avoid overdoing it.
Follow the spacing guidelines on each package of seeds. Root veggies can be thinned out as they grow. Peppers, tomatoes, and squash need a lot of space to sprawl out later in the season.
You can plant other crops between them in the springtime and harvest them as your tomatoes reach their full size.
