October

Main project: Replace worn materials
If you’ve found a few things throughout the year that you feel need significant repairs, or you have some sort of renovations on your mind, now’s the ideal time to schedule them.

Labor and building materials tend to be most affordable from October through December. So, pencil in new countertops, flooring, or other projects that could increase your home’s esthetic.

Home maintenance checklist for October:
-Get your sprinkler system ready for winter by hiring a plumber to blow out any residual water in the sprinkler heads or valves with an   air compressor. Any water that freezes over the winter can damage the valves in the spring.
-Check and clean the downspouts and gutters. Falling leaves can impede drainage and lead to moisture issues along your basement and   roof.
-Spray for insects around your home’s foundation and any door openings and windows. Don’t forget that bugs are looking for heat in the   winter. So that’s when you start to see an inpouring of insects inside your home.
