2. A bit of drama
A little bit of drama here and there never hurt anybody, right?
If there’s one location in your house where you should feel free to be bold, it’s the bathroom. The room’s minimal square footage guarantees that the room’s eye-catching elements, such as dramatic wallpaper and dark paint, won’t overpower the area or the people who enter it.
Some professionals compare moody bathrooms to statement jewels for the house. That’s because you want these private areas to be extraordinary, striking, and unforgettable. If you like to be a little extra, a darker color in your bathroom will do the trick.

I certainly hope these are not indicative of the new bathroom styles. These are all too sterile and uninviting. They scream, “Don’t touch!” Can you imagine these same photos after everyone used the bathroom? Where does one store one’s things? Can you imagine children using these spaces, spilling water on the perfect floors, messing up the perfect counters, wet towels lying around, etc.? No thanks. Way too minimalist and cold for me – I prefer to live in a home, not a museum.
I like warm and natural colors. If we keep things too simplistic it looks sterile. Giving a feature wall in something natural is fine but don’t overwhelm a smaller sized room with too much color. A bathroom is to remain tranquil.
