The living room was black and white with a red couch to make it look stylish and elegant. My bedroom was colorful, the kitchen was beige, and the bathroom was turquoise.
I wanted my restroom to feel like a sanctuary, like I was sitting outside in nature, and the beautiful color of the leaves that surrounded me charged my batteries. I wanted it to have personality.
And this is what design stands for, in my opinion. Giving life to what you have and making everything look special, cozy, elegant, and put-together.
Your bathroom should definitely make you feel relaxed and energized at the same time. You want to feel good when you sit there because it’s the place where you start and end your day.

I certainly hope these are not indicative of the new bathroom styles. These are all too sterile and uninviting. They scream, “Don’t touch!” Can you imagine these same photos after everyone used the bathroom? Where does one store one’s things? Can you imagine children using these spaces, spilling water on the perfect floors, messing up the perfect counters, wet towels lying around, etc.? No thanks. Way too minimalist and cold for me – I prefer to live in a home, not a museum.
I like warm and natural colors. If we keep things too simplistic it looks sterile. Giving a feature wall in something natural is fine but don’t overwhelm a smaller sized room with too much color. A bathroom is to remain tranquil.
