#7 Asparagus
If you don’t know what else to add to your garden (though we are sure you have so many ideas), asparagus is one of your best choices. It will both grow in height and in width, and in exchange for all the time you will spend taking care of the vegetable, you will have a couple of decades’ worth of asparagus to enjoy!
That being said, you should be careful where you plant them; once their roots settle, they are there to stay. And they love sunny patches with soil that is able to drain well. They are not really beginner-friendly plants, but they can be cared for and grown by gardening beginners as well. Especially if you enjoy eating them as a side dish.
You can either choose to grow them yourself from a seed, or you can take the easier route and plant the bare-root crowns in the ground.
