#9 Horseradish
If you don’t mind a little zesty root in your winter meals, horseradish is one of the best ways to get warm during the colder seasons. Simply grate some of the roots into your meals or eat them as a side dish, and you’ll understand what we mean!
The best thing about it is that it is a perennial vegetable, and once you plant it, you can enjoy it for as long as it is present in your garden, and you can dig it out of the soil. That’s also the best way to enjoy it, as it is more potent when it is freshly harvested. Horseradish is part of the Cruciferae family (along with cabbages, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli), but it is by far the hardiest, so you don’t have to worry about it over the winter!
Be it that you’re a lover of Bloody Marys, or you love to add some to your potato salad, or you even like preserving it grated, horseradish is healthy and easy to grow! Not to mention something extra for the spice lovers out there.
Since we have been talking about perennial plants, you should also take a look at the best herbs and plants you should add to your garden that will not die on you once their season is over!
