#4 Pet Food
When talking about pet food, it is not an immediate “no” to having it stored under the sink. However, if you do not have it in an airtight, sealed container, it is better to avoid keeping your food that close to your pipes. The reason you probably already guessed is that there is moisture around the pipes. And since kibble is dry food, it should not be kept in a moist environment since not only do you risk it getting wet but also having it get moldy because of that. You do not want to have to throw away a whole several-pound bag of dog or cat food!
Another reason why you should avoid storing pet food in the sink cupboard if it is not in a sealed container is that you can accidentally cross-contaminate your pet’s food with cleaning agents and accidentally poison them.
