#1 Silverware
They are not as prevalent as they once were, but we are sure that most of us have that one silverware set from Grandma stashed away somewhere. The one cutlery set that you use when you have more fancy home parties or when you want to impress a guest. However, if you see them being tarnished, you should never use water to try to clean them off; it will have the opposite effect and spread the tarnish even more.
Your best bet is to use silver polish, which is made exactly for this purpose. Yet, we’ll let you in on a secret: You can also use ketchup if you don’t have silver polish. Just let the silverware soak in ketchup for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse the condiment off and buff it with a soft cloth. The ketchup will get rid of the tarnish, and then it will be safe to use water on the silver!
