You may have thought that getting a marble countertop would solve all your issues. After all, it is a fairly resistant material! However, it is not the choice you should have made if you planned on using your kitchen extensively. Marble can actually scratch really easily, and if you drop something on it, you will be able to see a few scuffs here and there.

The other problem you may encounter is that it is not as easily cleaned as it may seem at first glance! You may think that wiping the counter with a wet cloth will do the trick, but it can actually damage your countertop. Marble is a porous material, and it can be damaged by water quite easily. What’s more, if you use water on it, it may damage the sealant on the top that is meant to protect the counter!

Do yourself a favor and avoid cleaning it that way. Use a cloth or a soft brush to wipe it down, along with special cleaners for marble, to avoid any wear or tears!
