Golden Pothos
Toxic Properties: Insoluble calcium oxalates
Symptoms Include: Difficulty in swallowing, mucous membrane irritation, intense burning, and irritation of the lips, mouth, and tongue, excessive drooling.
The stunning winding, ivy-like golden pothos is another toxic plant for your home if you have dogs. And this particular indoor plant contains insoluble calcium oxalates. These are glass-like crystals that can cause extreme pain when ingested.
One of the first and most critical symptoms is oral itching and irritation, which is what leads to that intense burning and pain in and around your pup’s snout.
So if you notice that your dog is excessively drooling, vomiting, or having difficulty swallowing, contact your vet immediately.
