Nuts
If you’re nuts about crazy, I meant…if you’re nuts about nuts…oh no, sorry, again. If you’re crazy about nuts, then at least make sure you keep them out of your kitchen cabinets. Nuts are oftentimes a super costly snack item, and grocery stores sell them in the snack aisle, so it would make all the sense in the world to stow them away in a cabinet, right? Well, not quite.
Nuts are super high in unsaturated, or better yet, “good” fats, which break down rapidly, causing food to become rancid. If you can keep any kind of nut in an airtight container in your freezer, it will keep out moisture, keeping them fresher and longer.
Pure maple syrup
Unlike maple syrup bought at the store, which could be more shelf-stable, the purest kind of maple syrup should not contain any preservatives. For this particular reason, it is best stored in the refrigerator.
