#6 Water? On Velvet? Never
No matter what type of fuzzy fabric you have, but especially if you have velvet on your hands, you should not be cleaning them with water. The whole point of dry cleaning a velvet gown is to avoid damaging it while washing it. The same applies to upholstered furniture or any velvet cushions and fabrics you have around the house.
If this type of fabric gets wet and just air dries, the fibers in the material will dry in a new position, changing the flow of the swipe patterns completely. Generally, if you have velvet furniture around your house, that was a conscious decision. So do not run the risk of ruining your velvet upholstery with water, and hire professional cleaners to use specialized equipment to clean the material.
