8 Interior Design Rules of Thumb You Must Always Follow

Choose a statement hero piece

Every room requires a statement or hero piece—something that might surprise the guests, delight them, and make a significant impact in your room. And luckily, it could be literally anything: from an oversized piece of furniture in a bold color, a fabulous rug, or a work of art to a feature wall. It needs to be something that guests can always comment on when they enter any room.

Your hero piece is made to steal the spotlight. It should be the first thing that you fell in love with the minute you saw it. It should convince you to spend a couple of bucks (or even a couple more) to have that sustainable piece of furniture or that bold feature wall color in your room. Also, if you decide on the next stage-stealing piece and it’s a bold color, you can try using different hints of it elsewhere for a more cohesive look.
