4. There are dry mud tubes on your foundation
We’re not done talking about termites, so stay here for a moment, because these instincts are synonyms with home problems. If you discover any dry and small tubes on the foundation of your home, and these dots run from the ground to your siding, you could say that your home is the victim of an active infestation.
These insects are subterranean creatures, and they don’t like people to see them doing their “job”. This means that they prefer to stay covered during dinner when they travel back and forth from their refuge spot in the soil to the feast in your home.
To camouflage their paths, they build tiny tunnels, which are roughly 1/4 inch wide. If you have an active infestation, you’ll see these tunnels on the inside or outside of your foundation.
If you notice a crawl space, grab a good flashlight, take a look in the crevice, and check for tubes at least once a year. And if there’s something suspicious, call an exterminator.
