8. English Ivy

If allergies seem to wake you up at night, English ivy is your best bet. According to one study, this plant reduces airborne feces and mold, while another study discovered that the leaves help relieve asthma symptoms. This being said, you’ll want to have this air-purifying powerhouse in every bedroom.

With nicely formed foliage and detoxifying effects, English ivy is in the same realm as Chinese evergreens and aloe vera plants when it comes to absorbing allergens. Be careful, though, as English ivy is toxic, so if you have kids and pets, you’ll want to keep it out of their reach.

Check the soil before watering this plant — it prefers its bed to be a little bit on the dry side. It also enjoys lots of bright light throughout the year.
