2. Moving Furniture Without Pads

Whether they are made of tile, carpet, or hardwood, your floors can be easily damaged when moving. In fact, even when you’re simply attempting a DIY move, if you’re not careful enough, your floor surface may get some ugly scratches.

While I know it’s pretty tempting to drag furniture pieces across the floor, I strongly discourage doing so. Not only could you ruin your floors, but you could also accidentally hit your doors and walls along the way. That’s why it’s important to properly prepare for a DIY move. Remember to ask for help in case you’re not allowed to carry heavy things.

Furniture pads, also known as moving blankets, are a must when you’re dragging your furniture, especially when it comes to moving dressers, couches, desks, chairs, and tables. So make sure you have a moving blanket in your house in case you’ll need it in the future.
