#4 Set Up Some Perches
If you want the male cardinals to be able to delight you with their song, then you should make sure that they have somewhere to perch. It is their favorite spot, from which they love to sing. This is why you should make sure that you have a few trees planted around the garden that are going to make excellent perches that you will not have to do much to maintain.
Some of the trees that are best for this specific reason are the ones that are narrow or columnar in shape, a great one being an arborvitae, especially in small landscapes. This is because these types of trees will grow in height but not in width, so you will not be invaded by the tree.
Since we mentioned how male cardinals sing, here’s a fun fact! Very few of the North American songbirds actually sing, but the northern cardinal female does when she is sitting on the nest! So do not panic if you hear a song coming from one of the shrubs; it is just the mom signaling her mate to bring about some food.
