8. Ignoring flickering lights

Storms can certainly make your lights flicker. However, if you’re noticing that your indoor lights are flickering without an external reason or randomly, this could indicate failing appliances or a faulty circuit board.

There are some things you can do if this is happening to you. According to experts, you can tighten the lightbulbs in your fixtures. If this doesn’t work, try powering each load separately and listening for a buzzing noise.

If you can hear a distinct noise, that’s a sign you need to call in a professional. It’s really important to do that as quickly as possible, as faulty wiring represents an increased risk of electrical fires.
