Add a vintage rug.

Adding a vintage rug is genuinely a wonderful upgrade, wherever you decide to put it. And if you’re worried about the price, don’t be: vintage rugs aren’t necessarily super expensive, as long as you know how to look for them. If you can find a vintage rug that you truly like, then it’s an investment you shouldn’t avoid.

Trust me, it will pay off 100%. If you looked for one but simply couldn’t find anything, you could always look into getting a vintage “style” rug. Some of the brands that you might want to look out for are NuLoom, Loloi, and so on. You’ve probably seen them at some point. The same as with artwork and mirrors, the bigger the rug, the better. Here’s my absolute favorite vintage rug, at a wonderful price.

Update the hardware.

I know this tip might seem a bit too obvious, but it’s also one of the most effective upgrades you can think of. The rooms that will benefit from such a change are the kitchen and the bathroom, because that’s where all the faucets and cabinet hardware are.

Upgrading also means swapping out doorknobs, light plates, plug covers, and even furniture knobs. You don’t have to buy new fixtures. For instance, if you dream of a matte finish, you can easily buy a can of matte spray paint and spray your fixtures.

I mean, are we talking about a brand-new look for only $5? If so, please sign me up! These super small details could make all the difference in a room, and they’re not at all as expensive as you might think, especially if you know where to shop.
