#1 Covering every available surface

We understand how exciting the holiday season is, and we may believe that decorating every surface in your home is the way to go. And, while it may appear amazing to you, there is only one decoration that distinguishes Christmas fun from Christmas clutter! You don’t want the people who come to your house to be overwhelmed, and it may happen to you at some point.

A good way to see if you are going overboard is to take a picture of the place you decorated after you are done with it. This way, you can look at it in another light later in the day, and you will be surprised at just how many things may seem messy or cluttered once you look at them in a new light. Instead of putting a lot of decorations in one place, decorators across the country suggest using smaller ones, such as little bows or wintery flowers, or even twinkle lights.

There’s no need to use all your decorations in one place, and remember! A lot of the places that you decorate still need to be functional during the holiday season!
