9 Best Indoor Plants to Kill Airborne Viruses and Bacteria

2. Calathea

Calathea is a special, highly decorative indoor plant with colorful, variegated foliage. Apart from its ornamental characteristics and original foliage, Calathea also filters the surrounding air, slashing a multitude of airborne viruses and bacteria that are more or less harmful.

But this lovely plant is also special for another reason: it closes its leaves at night and opens them again when the sun comes up. That’s why Calathea is also known as the “living plant”.

If the leaves start to curl inward, then that’s a sign that the plant is getting thirsty. Water it as soon as you notice the change, and it should bounce back quickly. Fortunately, Calathea is child and pet-friendly, so you can keep it anywhere.
