keep your house clean with zero effort

How can you keep your house clean with zero effort?

Ugh, cleaning! This is one pain in the neck task everybody hates, but on the other hand, a lot of others hate seeing a messy living space. So what do we do? Can we bring this situation to a compromise?

From a lazy person’s point of view, it’s a middle ground for this. Hold on tight, because I am about to share some very clever cleaning tips that will make even your pickiest self stand up. Are you prepared to transform your cleaning routine without putting any effort? Let’s start!

1. Make your bed every morning

One of the first hacks that help you keep your house clean with zero effort is making your bed every morning. Yes, you heard me well! By simply doing this you will refresh the look of your bedroom in the blink of an eye.

Nothing looks more put together and neater in my room than immediately smoothing up my bedding and covering it with my favorite quilt.

When we go home in the evenings, the bed is the first thing we notice, and having it tidy helps us forget any other small clutter that may be visible in the space.

2. Wear sweeper slippers to pick up hair from the floor

Now, that’s something I love to wear in the bathroom and my kitchen. They’re funky and cozy and they help a little bit with keeping the living space clean. Of course, they aren’t as good as a broom so don’t expect miracles from a simple pair of sweeper slippers but they help you keep your house clean with zero effort.

Thanks to their microfiber bottoms you can remove some dust and filth by simply…moving around. After a week of wearing them, I found myself using my feet like mini brooms to sweep everything into a single, more manageable pile. Buy your pair from Amazon for just $13.98!

3. Use a silicone drain cover

With a silicone drain cover, you can catch all the hair you and your family members lose in the shower and avoid ever needing to hire a plumber again—you can stop wasting so much money on chemical de-cloggers. Almost any drain, whether it rises, dips in, or is flat and flush with the tub surround, will fit over this. So, don’t worry!

I love this silicone drain because I can quickly wipe away any nasty residue, even if it starts to mildew. All the hair remains caught while the water passes through because the weighted top keeps it in place. Voila with zero effort!

4. Use vinegar for the showerhead mildew

Ugh, mildew on the showerhead? Totally disgusting. But I have good news because this is one of the hacks that helps you keep your house clean with zero effort. To eliminate all dirt from the showerhead, immerse it in a plastic bag with vinegar for a few hours. This should completely dissolve all the buildup. After trying it, it truly does work! You should use something stronger than vinegar, such as CLR, if your water is really hard.

5. Always have on hand a bottle of all-purpose stain remover

It probably happened to you too to have a house full of guests while everything was nice and everyone was having fun. All is well until somebody drops some wine on your favorite carpet. Disaster!

That’s why you must have a bottle of all-purpose stain remover on hand. All you need to do is spray it directly into the stain, whether it’s new or old, rub it gently into the carpet, let it sit for a few minutes, and then blot it up.

6. Use a lint roller to clean dust

Dusting lampshades is always a pain in the neck. While I am trying to do it, it always gets messier, and somehow all the surroundings become dusty too. But if you want to keep your house clean with zero effort, you have to try this hack!

To swiftly remove all of the dust that got stuck on your lampshades, take out a lint roller. It works great for me, and I don’t even think about buying the priciest lint rollers! An inexpensive pack from the Dollar Store or even Amazon would be enough for the task.

7. Clean your microwave in a matter of minutes with one lemon

When it comes to cleaning the microwave, it always seems like a hassle. It would be nice to clean it right after using it, but honestly, how many of you are doing that now? This lemon hack helps you remove every last trace of dried-on food with a single swipe of a paper towel. All you have to do is microwave a bowl filled with water and lemon for three to five minutes, closing the door for a few minutes to allow everything to steam.

You don’t have a lemon on hand? No problem, since this also works with just plain water or water mixed with vinegar. Afterward, just use a clean sponge to brush off all the dirt. Voila! This cleaning hack is going to be done in less than 15 minutes. Woohoo!

8. Do you have a dog? Buy yourself a paw washer

We all love our little furry friends, but sometimes having a pet is a bit of a pain in the neck. They tend to munch on our shoes, scratch our favorite couch, and walk with dirty paws all over the house. So what can you do?

If your dogs carry dirt inside from the yard all the time, be sure to clean their paws before they come inside using an old towel or, if that is too rough, a paw washer.

…psst! Wanna buy your paw washer for a great price? Check out the offer on Amazon. For example, this cleaner for small medium large breed dogs and cats with 3 absorbent towels is available in four different colors on Amazon for just $9.87.

9. Set up a funny and cute doormat with a message on it

We can’t make people get rid of their shoes, but since it is about our house, a little play of words right before entering the house can be nice and fun. I bought a nice doormat with a message on it: “Don’t just stand there; bust a move!”

By putting this doormat in front of the door, I managed to keep all the dirt from getting into my home. Some guests even asked where I got it! Etsy all the way, since some merchants are also available to do personalized messages on them.

10. Put a layer of wax paper on the top of kitchen cabinets (or furniture in general)

Are you tired of trying to clean all that greasy dust from over the top of the kitchen cabinets? I have a great hack for you that will help you get the job done in a few minutes.

Place a layer of paper bags or wax paper on the top surfaces of cupboards and furniture, particularly in the kitchen, to collect grease dust. When the paper gets dirty a few months later, simply replace it.

That’s it! These are all my favorite hacks to keep your house clean with zero effort. I hope you will put a pin on each of them and share them with your friends as well. And remember that, coming from a lazy person, life isn’t about cleaning all day, every day. You should also relax and be happy about your free time!
