3. Keeping Your Blinds Open All Day

Keeping your blinds open may make your house look cheery and bright, but doing so can also cause major damage to your flooring. This obviously does not happen overnight, but it is something you should be aware of in the long run.

According to experts, harsh UV rays can cause discoloration and premature fading of floors, especially hardwood flooring. Don’t get me wrong; this doesn’t mean you have to live in the dark like a vampire. Natural light is great and has many benefits, but not while you’re not at home, so make sure you’ve closed your blinds when you’re out for the day.
