Daffodils

Daffodils are not only somewhat of an iconic perennial flower in the United States but also one of the most popular springtime flowers out there. They come in two color variations, white and yellow, though the center will always be yellow. Regardless of which one you have in your garden, they will bring an explosion of color and sunshine to your yard, making it more colorful overall.

Another perk to these beautiful perennials is the fact that they are toxic to rabbits and deer, as they contain an alkaloid by the name of lycorine. Thus, these animals will steer clear of these flowers and plants, making them one of the best choices to add to your flowerbeds closer to the entrance to your property where deer get inside your yard.

What’s more, these plants are not fussy at all, making them easy to care for as long as their soil is not soggy or full of water. The simplest way to ensure that you can admire these flowers in the spring is to plant the bulbs in the fall before the first freezing temperatures, or to find some bloomed ones in the spring and plant them then!
