#6 Creaking floors?

While this may be one of those typical house noises that most people end up ignoring, you shouldn’t just chalk it up to just squeaky floorboards or old house sounds. All of the noises have to come from somewhere, and in this case, it can be either something simple or something more serious.

Sure, one of the reasons could be that due to how the house settled or even due to temperature changes, the floors are now creaky. All the other reasons need thorough investigations. It’s possible that a section of the subfloor has settled or that a nail is rubbing against the board; in this case, you can easily fix it with some extra fasteners around the connections or wood shims.

In other cases, especially if you observe a low point in your floors, it is a big sign that you may end up having termites, and they are eating away at your house’s wood structure. If you suspect you are having termites, you should immediately contact a professional to come look into your issue so it doesn’t get worse!
