Mistake #5: Pruning Around The Wrong Time Of The Year

Pruning your climbers and shrubs requires a little knowledge to guarantee that you don’t damage your plant.

You’ll probably be surprised to learn that you must remove the next year’s flower buds or sometimes even shock the plant for it to produce more groups of leafy growth. Even if it’s at the expense of your flowers or fruit.

Did you know that grapes should only be pruned when they’re dormant to guarantee that the plant doesn’t leave you without that delicious fruit? Or how about that cherries and plums need to be pruned in the summertime in order to prevent the spreading of silver leaf disease?

Make sure you study the pruning process a bit before you start pruning if you want the outcome you intended.
