Althea Shrub

Althea shrub, also known as Rose of Sharon, is a hibiscus shrub, a typical summer hedge plant. The great thing about this outdoor plant is that it can be shaped into different forms to make it the perfect candidate for hedges.

Because altheas respond very well to yearly trimming, it’s helpful as privacy planters or foundation plantings. But, as beautiful as it is, the althea plant is prone to gnats, beetles, and insect infestations. Don’t worry.

There are many solutions to getting rid of pests you can utilize. Just monitor them for early signs of a pest infestation before extensive damage is done to your shrubs. Comfort and privacy at home are essential.

Whether you prefer to use trees, shrubs, or hedge specimens, privacy plants give you peace in a secluded place. Some proliferate with ease, while others mature over time. These spectacular plants save you from putting up an expensive privacy fence.

As a lifetime gardener with an acre of gardens, I still do have one neighbor who is nasty. He’s upwind, and sends me weed seeds from his riverbank he rarely tends to. Screens would be nice to keep out the seeds, if they could.
You do not list zones. You do not always list normal heights. You do not always list sun/pt shade/shade. That pic of ‘jack frost privet’ shows not white margins. Bamboo is not invasive? HA!! Seen it before, especially in warmer zones. I realize you had only so much room, but straightforward listing of the important stuff is so much more helpful than amusing literature.

    Thanks!!

Privet is dangerous to horses. Bamboo is extremely invasive. What about fig trees or magnolias?
