10 Seemingly Harmless Ways You May Be Ruining Your House

1. Pouring Grease Down the Drain

Let’s say you cook something with oil. What do you do with it after this? Unfortunately, most people dispose of cooking oil by pouring it down the kitchen sink drain. If you are one of them, you must stop immediately.

Pouring oil, grease, and other cooking fats down the drain is actually one of the main reasons why drains get clogged. You could argue that doing so is harmless as long as you immediately run hot water. In fact, grease-caused clogs can still build up and ruin your pipes, drainage systems, and overall sewer system.

According to plumber service experts, grease tends to harden in drains, and it’s pretty common for a drain pipe to be completely blocked by rock-hard grease. So, if you want to maintain a healthy drainage system—and save some money—make sure you don’t pour cooking oil down the drain.
