7. Putting Appliances Near Your Thermostat

Ever wonder why your house’s heating system doesn’t kick on but you’re shivering? Here may be your answer.

Where you keep your appliances matters more than you may think. Even though lots of electronic devices and appliances are made with modern technology that reduces heat, items like video game consoles, TVs, and other appliances still emit some heat.

This being said, if your TV is placed too close, the thermostat can measure the rise in temperature and respond accordingly, leading to a colder house in the winter and higher bills in the summer. Make sure you’re keeping any appliances away from your thermostat so your house’s heating system can work effectively and efficiently.
