American Holly

The American holly is a stunning tree that can give some color to an otherwise monotonous yard. It’s pest resistant, disease-free, and can form a hedge if planted four to five feet apart.

As a bonus, the prickly leaves of the holly bush keeps stray cats away and any other creatures who might like to visit your oasis. Unlike most hedge plants, the American holly is moderately low maintenance, requiring minimal pruning or trimming yearly.

Even though it’s adaptable to various soil conditions, this outdoor plant grows best in southern, western, and lower northeast/midwest regions. This tree makes its presence known in your gardens and yard in early spring with elegant, lovely white flowers.

During the colder months, stunning red berries form. Undoubtedly, the American holly is a perfect year-round tree that offers a delightful garden design.

As a lifetime gardener with an acre of gardens, I still do have one neighbor who is nasty. He’s upwind, and sends me weed seeds from his riverbank he rarely tends to. Screens would be nice to keep out the seeds, if they could.
You do not list zones. You do not always list normal heights. You do not always list sun/pt shade/shade. That pic of ‘jack frost privet’ shows not white margins. Bamboo is not invasive? HA!! Seen it before, especially in warmer zones. I realize you had only so much room, but straightforward listing of the important stuff is so much more helpful than amusing literature.

    Thanks!!

Privet is dangerous to horses. Bamboo is extremely invasive. What about fig trees or magnolias?
