Excessive noise and vibrations

Do you know that sound when the plane takes off? If your old washing machine sounds similar to it, there is definitely something wrong with it. Typically, you won’t need to call a specialist for this simple remedy. But before you dismiss it as a minor flaw, it’s still a warning flag, so you should do something about it before it becomes worse.

The first thing you can do is stop the cycle and rearrange the garments inside it to be more organized and well-distributed, but this is mostly available for the top-loading washing machines. As a second solution to the issue, you can try to reposition the washer so that all its four corners are on the same surface.

If none of these seem to work, it may be time to call a technician who can diagnose it. Maybe there’s something wrong with the drum, and you won’t need a new one!

If it’s older than 8 years

We began our article with a question: How old is your old washing machine? While you probably thought it was a silly question, think twice before you answer it. Indeed, the median lifespan of washing machines is usually more than 10 years; specialists recommend changing them after 8.

Let us explain why. Repairs may start to cost more as your washer nears the end of its expected lifespan, not to mention how frequently they may need to be done. And with this inflation going on, nobody wants to spend more than necessary!

After a while, it makes more sense to invest all that money in a more water- and energy-efficient modern washing machine than the one you now have. This is also true if you have a large family and use it more than once per week.
