7. Hibiscus

Scientific Name: Rosa sinensis

  • Plant Type: Woody
  • Plant Size: 10 feet
  • Geographic Origin: Asia
  • Plant Zone: 9-11
  • Sun Exposure: Direct sunlight

Many Hibiscus varieties have large gorgeous red, pink, white, or yellow flowers. It’s a tropical plant, and you can grow it outdoors if you live in warmer areas such as Hawaii, California, Texas, and Florida. Flowers can grow up to 6 inches long, while the whole plant can grow into trees or shrubs of up to 10 feet.

These gorgeous flowers attract bees and other pollinators such as butterflies and hummingbirds, making them a truly eye-catching addition to your garden. While it’s best to plant them along hedges and walkways, hibiscus can also grow indoors.
