6. Alligator

Last but not least on our list of wild animals that may invade your backyard is a creature that you should be afraid of. If you live in Florida, you must be familiar with the alligator, the Sunshine State’s favorite backyard reptile!

Anyone who lives here or has lived here knows that alligators are actually a regular part of life. Moreover, it’s said that these scaly animals can be found in every body of water in southern Florida. It sounds pretty scary, doesn’t it?

Since the people of Florida have turned a great part of the alligator’s natural habitat into housing and other types of developments, you can spot these fierce reptiles in some pretty unusual places. For instance, golf courses are always packed with these creatures. And yes, they also make the list of animals that may invade your backyard.

If an alligator casually makes its way into your yard or decides that a “ding-dong-ditch” game is appropriate, don’t try to handle the situation yourself. These reptiles are incredibly fast and won’t hesitate to bite.

If you spot an alligator way too close to your house for comfort, call a local animal control office right away. These offices are used to removing such dangerous and large animals, particularly in Florida.

If you live in a place where alligators are common, you should also make sure to keep your pets inside at all times unless you’re outside with them to keep a close watch.
