10. Make It Appear You’re Home

If a burglar thinks someone’s home, there’s less chance they’ll attempt to break in. In fact, most property crimes that involve burglary occur when the owner isn’t home, like when you’re at work or on vacation.

Luckily, there are several easy home security tips to help fool would-be criminals, like using a smart plug that controls lights from your smart device. Another idea would be to leave the TV on when you’re leaving your house for a short time.

Now, when you’re about to go on vacation, make sure you prepare your house by arranging to have your yard maintained, stopping your mail, and asking a friend or a trusted neighbor to stop by regularly. This will help make your house seem lived-in while you’re gone.
