21 Beautiful Perennial Flowers That Love Shade

Ligularia

Also known as the “leopard plant”, this particular plant is a wonderful choice for any shade garden. First, the deer don’t enjoy eating it, which is already great, especially if you live in an area where that could be troublesome. Another nice thing about it is that it has striking, purplish-red leaves.

Other varieties have features that include yellow, daisy-looking flowers and others with spikier blooms. However, if you desire a good plant with a large leaf structure, then this might be your best bet.

Hostas

Hostas are probably at the top of the list of my favorite plants. They are a great choice when it comes to shady areas with moist soil. While it is primarily a foliage plant, the broad-leafed beauty could surprise you: they are either very small or very large.

Sum and substance, for instance, are two varieties that become very large; we’re talking about five feet across. In the meantime, mouse ears are super small. If you want to try out these varieties, try Halcyon, Sum, Substance, and Mouse Ears.
