Keep your stylish light fixtures looking brand new with regular dusting and a simple maintenance checklist.

Maintenance & Long-Term Care

Your stylish light fixtures will only elevate a room if you keep them clean and well-maintained. Dust accumulation on bulbs and glass shades reduces light output by up to twenty percent. Establish a simple seasonal cleaning routine to keep your fixtures shining brilliantly.

Turn off the light and allow the bulbs to cool completely before cleaning. Use a dry microfiber cloth to dust metal and plaster surfaces gently. For clear glass globes, remove the shades from the fixture and wash them in your sink using warm water and a mild dish soap; dry them thoroughly before reattaching them to avoid water spots. When dealing with woven or fabric shades, use a lint roller or the upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to remove trapped dust.

To maximize the longevity of your new fixtures, invest in high-quality Energy Star certified LED bulbs. LEDs generate significantly less heat than traditional incandescent bulbs, which protects delicate fixture finishes and wiring from heat degradation over time. Furthermore, check the mounting hardware once a year; if a fixture wobbles or feels loose, tighten the canopy screws immediately to ensure it remains securely anchored to the ceiling box.
