5. If nothing works, opt for homemade citrus oils

In most cases, people feel the need to add extra cups of fabric softener because the fragrance doesn’t seem to be strong enough to keep the laundry and bed sheets smell great.

Because “desperate times need desperate measures,” to make the fresh smell last longer try to combine 20 drops of lemon or orange citrus essential oil with one cup of white vinegar, one cup of baking soda, and half a cup of borax. Use this homemade mixture together with your washing detergent for every load of clothes.

6. Lavender water works very well too!

Before tossing your garments into the washing machine, sprinkle them with a couple of puffs of lavender water. After drying, just enough aroma will be left to keep it smelling good for a while. You don’t like how lavender smells? No worries! Try using your preferred essential oil. Another fresh-smelling perfume is rose water.
