Edging plant

Lemongrass can also be helpful as an edging or border for growing areas in warmer climate zones. It can also be used as a divider to stop more invasive, spreading plants, like sweet potatoes, from running out of bounds.

Its growing habit can prevent certain plants from taking over other garden areas or spreading out onto footpaths. It can also be used as a barrier to prevent weeds from growing in a specific area.

To improve degraded soil

Another one of the biggest benefits of growing lemongrass is that it can also improve degraded soil in locations where it can be grown effectively in the ground.

The plant proliferates, creating plenty of vegetation to rot down and build soil fertility and structure. It’s a somewhat effective accumulator of potassium.
