1. Lock The Doors, Even When You’re At Home

When you make it a point to lock the doors, you minimize the risk of a burglar breaking into your house. Most people are conscious of locking up their houses when leaving; however, what many don’t know is that it’s just as crucial to lock doors when you’re home or when you’re out and about for a short time.

According to recent data, most burglaries (about 72%) happen when the owner isn’t home. However, roughly 30% of burglaries take place simply because the door is unlocked. To stay safe, remember to always lock your door, even if you’re at home.

The same thing applies to your windows, too. Make it a habit to check them before you go to bed. A 2021 survey of burglary victims discovered that 58% of break-ins occur at night.

Now, if you or your family members seem to forget to lock your house’s door, you may want to install an electronic door lock.
