6. He’s Being Pushy
Scare tactics and high-pressure sales are always red flags you should walk away from immediately. Honest plumbers have no interest in luring someone into spending money with them. However, fraudulent plumbers sometimes use certain tactics to take advantage of those they feel may not be aware of their rights. The most common victims are the elderly and newly arrived immigrants.
A shady plumber may tell you that your plumbing is putting your house in danger of serious damage or that your neighbors could even sue you for damage to their property.
If the guy you’ve hired leaves you feeling uneasy, say you no longer need his services and call a reputable plumbing company to help you solve the issue. Insist on receiving an explanation of why the work they are recommending is necessary. If the guy claims your plumbing system poses a safety risk, he should be able to explain exactly why that is and how he plans to fix it.
