3. Smoke Tree
If you have no idea what kind of shrub to add to your garden, the Smoke Tree should be on top of your list. It has some beautiful oval leaves and nice foliage in purple tones that will transform your garden into a head-turner!
Velvet Cloak, Redsmoke, and Royal Purple are some of the varieties of this plant that look like they have rich and purple velvety foliage, which looks very good with this plant’s yellow blooms.
If you’re not fully convinced why you should get a plant like this, you should know that it works well with any soil type, as long as you take care of it and it’s properly draining. Besides that, the Smoke Tree is not very phased regarding the soil’s pH level, and once it’s settled, it’s okay with dry conditions. Purple Smoke Trees like the warmer, drier areas and grow best in USDA zones 4 to 9.

Thanks … however so many are candy for the deer herd that visits my garden! So far, they haven’t consumed the nine bark. The rest are down to nubbins. Any other suggestions???
Which of these plants, if any, are deer resistent?
