DIY Bleach Recipe
If you know that you have sensitive skin, wear a pair of gloves, as this recipe calls for hydrogen peroxide, which can be an irritant despite its low concentration. After you have made the mixture, it should not be a problem.
You are going to need a gallon jar in which to mix all your ingredients. This recipe calls for the following ingredients:
- half a cup of lemon juice;
- one and a half cups of hydrogen peroxide (3%);
- one tablespoon of citric acid (you can skip this one, but it is great for whitening clothes and softening water);
- less than a gallon of distilled water;
- 10 to 30 drops of one essential oil of your choice.
In your jug, mix together all your ingredients except for the distilled water until the citric acid is dissolved, then top off the jug with distilled water until the recipient is full. Shake well, and then store it until you need to use it.
The cleaner can be used as a regular bleach replacement. It is great to use to get rid of stains and can also be used as a fabric softener!
Warning! You can always test it on a piece of fabric if you are not sure about the cleaner’s potency. You should easily be able to remove stains with it, as it is a powerful cleaner and also doubles as a germ killer. Do not use on anything that you wouldn’t have used bleach on; this is a nonchemical bleach replacement, so it doesn’t mean that it is safe to use on anything.
