6 Stunning Plants That Will Thrive in the Florida Climate

2. Dahlia

Dahlias are lovely flowers that have adapted to the conditions in the United States, but if you want to grow them in Florida, you should keep in mind a few things. There are some heat-tolerant species, such as Elsie Huston, that are perfect for the hot and humid climate of this state. Maybe they are not the easiest flowers you can grow, but we can assure you that it is totally worth it.

Dahlias come in almost any color, bloom from summer until winter, and probably the best part is that they are cut flowers. That means you can use them to make beautiful bouquets.

March is the best month to start planting these flowers, but don’t worry if you missed it. You can also plant dahlias in October or November. The hot climate lets you overwinter flowers without any issues.

Here are some dahlia varieties that don’t need special conditions in order to grow beautifully in your garden: Honeymoon Dahlia, Collarette Dahlia, and Waterlily Dahlia.
