9. Placement of curtains

Something as simple as how you hang your curtains can make a room seem taller and elegant.

Most of us are guilty of hanging the curtains too low. Designers recommend not hanging the curtains at the height of the window box. Curtains should be placed 6-10 inches from the ceiling. This placement will make the room seem taller by drawing the eye above the window.

The length of the curtain is also an important aspect. You want just the right length, not too short or too long. Curtains should look like they are barely touching the floor. To ensure you get the perfect length, remember to measure the room’s height more than once and in more than one place.
