6. Download a Crime-Tracking App

Once you’ve addressed your house’s immediate security vulnerabilities, the next step would be to become more aware of the property crime taking place in and around your neighborhood. With this information, you can take extra precautions to keep your family and belongings safe.

For instance, Amazon has an app like this called Neighbors, which anyone can install on their phone for free. When you set it up, you’ll have a map of your neighborhood with color icons labeling “safety,” “suspicious,” or “crime”. Other apps are SpotCrime and CrimeReports. Choose the one you think will work best for you.

Thanks to technology, you can stay up-to-date on your neighborhood’s crime rate.
