7. Fringe Tree

The Fringe Tree is a beautiful plant that you can grow either as a large shrub or a small tree. Its flowers look like miniature clouds in late spring and turn into vibrant blue-purple fruits during the fall.

If you want to have birds in your garden and listen to their music every single day, this tree is for you! Its flowers attract birds and your house will be filled up with their melodic sounds.

8. Japanese Maple

If you are drawn to more exotic and exquisite things, the Japanese Maple is going to look wonderful in your garden! The autumn season is the time when this little plant shines the most, revealing its classy red foliage that used to be burgundy during the warmer days.

There are many ways you can use this small tree in your garden: as the center of interest in a mixed border, or as a specimen in a partially shaded spot, so it can bring a pop of color.

Would be helpful if the zones the trees will grow in were included.

I have crepe myrtles – but his year (first time in about 40 years) the bark scale invaded our neighborhood – any recommendations for what to do – sprayed with Neem oil – and cut severely infected branches.

I like Rose of Sharon aka Althea. It comes in several colors—white, purple and pink are the colors I’m familiar with. It can be trimmed to look more tree-like or allowed to grow as a bush. My mother grew them when I was young.

Had a Japanese Maple in Woodland Hills, CA. It was supposed to be a miniature but it got reallly big. It was a beauty when the seasons changed. I do miss it.
